The Arkansas and Louisiana National Guard 39th Infantry Division conducting drill at Fort Chaffee, Sebastian County, Arkansas, under the leadership of Major General Maupin Cummings of Fayetteville, Washington County, Arkansas, and his Assistant Division commanders, Brigidier General Ivan Jackson of Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas, and Brigidier General Leonard Pauley of Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. The 39th Infantry Division trained in the countryside of the fort. In addition to the 39th's training, a scheduled assembly and lauching of a pontoon bridge was conducted by Company E of the 217th Engineer Battalion.
